Porcelain High Voltage InsulatorsInsulator is a small part used in electrical equipment to support as well as separate conductors without letting current through themselves. The major types of insulators are pin type, post insulator, suspension insulator, strain insulator, shackle insulator, line post, station post and cut-out. High-voltage power transmission also have insulators, which can be made from material, like glass, porcelain or composite polymer. The majority of insulators using in power transmission lines are made from porcelain, because of its high mechanical strength. This material has dielectric strength in between 4–10 kV/mm. The development of porcelain high voltage insulators requires, material, such as clay, feldspar, and quartz or alumina. These are further coated with a smooth glaze.
